Morris Carson, 71, of Madison, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at West Madison United Methodist Church.

Betty Holt

Betty J. Holt, 79, of Milton, Ky., died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.

She was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Trimble County, Ky., the daughter of Roy Frank and Ollie Ada Kent Law. She retired from the cutting room of the U.S. Shoe Corporation. She was a member of Wise's Landing Baptist Church. She enjoyed her cat and watching television.

She is survived by one son, Tim Holt of Milton, Ky.; one daughter, Brenda Nelson of Nevada; two sisters, Verrel Hertz of Madison and Ruth Perry of Milton, Ky.; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin E. "Deacon" Holt, whom she married Sept. 14, 1957, and who died Jan. 25, 1988; one son, Wayne E. Holt, who died Aug. 15, 1998; one daughter, Linda Long, who died in 2008; her parents; three sisters, Gertrude Gerides, Irene Law and Elizabeth Carter; and two brothers, Robert Law and Goodridge Law.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Vail-Holt Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 11 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.

Anna Marsh

Anna Marie Farrell Sedam Marsh, 94, of Madison, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Alfred and Helen Steele Farrell. She worked as a cook at Ridgewood and for Hanover College. She was a member of West Street Ministries. She enjoyed completing word search puzzles and sewing.

She is survived by one step son, George Marsh of Moorefield; one sister, Rita Sullivan of Madison; one half sister, Mary Beach of Aurora; four nieces; four nephews; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur William Sedam, who died April 1959; her second husband, Melvin Marsh, whom she married in 1969, and who died April 2, 1989; her parents; one brother, Clyde Bernard Farrell; one sister, Pauline Juanita Brandon; and one niece.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 11 a.m. until the service.
