Melva Buchanan

Melva Dean Buchanan, 73, of Canaan, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Switzerland County. She was a graduate of Central High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Jefferson Presbyterian Church and the church's Ladies Aide Society. She was also a member of the Canaan Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Den mother and a coach for the former Canaan Softball League.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Keith Buchanan; three sons, Graham Buchanan of Whiteland, Chris Buchanan of Madison and Stephen Buchanan of Elizabeth; one brother, Brad Bramwell of Columbus; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Shirley Hewitt and Carolyn Bramwell.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Friends can call the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at 11 a.m. until the time of the service Sunday.

Ronnie Kinman

Ronnie W. Kinman, 63, of Milton, Ky., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 16, 1948, in Gallatin County, Ky., the son of Charles William "Bill" and Leona Shelton Kinman. He retired as a chemical operator from Arkema in Carrollton, Ky. He was currently working as a driver for Advance Auto in Madison. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by one son, Jamie Kinman of Carrollton, Ky.; two daughters, Teresa Thompson and Kim Richards, both of Carrollton, Ky.; his mother; two brothers, Herbert Kinman and Daniel Kinman, both of Carrollton, Ky.; four sisters, Millie Proctor and Linda Robbins, both of Carrollton, Ky., Joyce Backus of Canaan and Sherry O'Neal of Madison; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Gary Ray Kinman and Jerry Lee Kinman; and one sister, Janie Smith.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Carrollton, Ky.

James Vestile

James Levi Vestile, 89, of Madison, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Jefferson County, the son of Ross and Gladys M. O'Neal Vestile. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church and also attended North Madison Baptist Church. He was a member of the Canaan Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Murat Shrine. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed spending the winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. He also enjoyed watching high school baseball games, the Cincinnati Reds and fishing trips to Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Ava N. Williams Vestile, whom he married Nov. 3, 1945; two daughters, Lila Gayle Crandell of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Sheila G. Ragland of New Albany; one son, Kerry L. Vestile of Avon; one sister, Imogene Storm of Fraser, Colo.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Kathryn Vestile Geyman, who died Sept. 26, 2012.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Vail-Holt Funeral and Cremation Service Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the service. The Canaan Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
