Howell Kelly Sr.
Howell M. Kelly Sr., 66, of Jeffersonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Madison, the son of Richard and Jane McCawley Kelly. He grew up on Ryker's Ridge. He was a member of St. Mary's and St. Michael's Catholic churches and attended grade school there. He was a 1965 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After the service, he graduated from the University of Kentucky. He co-owned Kelly Brothers Tire Center in Portland before opening Fayette County Tire in Connersville. He retired from Visteon in Connersville, where he was a quality lab supervisor, after 17 years of service. He was an avid golfer and gardener and enjoyed watching Notre Dame football.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kelly; six children, Howell M. Kelly Jr., Bryan Kelly, Adam Kelly, Veronica Prechtel, Richard Kelly and Mary Kelly-Herman; four siblings, Richard Kelly, Georgellen Kelly, Benjamin Kelly and Jane Michelle Kelly; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Colleen Kelly; his parents; and one brother, Spalding Kelly.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Jeffersonville
Friends may call at the church Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Louella Margaret Adams Kessler, 92, of Hanover, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Newton and Lottie Nighbert Adams. She lived all of her life in Jefferson County and for more than 70 years on her family farm. She was a 1939 graduate of Hanover High School. She retired from Southwestern Schools, where she worked in the cafeterias at the elementary and high schools for 18 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, raising vegetable and flower gardens, sewing and gospel music.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Pennington of Madison and Linda Hendricks of Hanover; two sons, William Kessler of Madison and Keith Kessler of Hanover; two sisters, Evelyn Handlon and Waunita Weber, both of Hanover; four brothers, Melvin Adams and Willard Adams, both of Hanover; Clifford Adams of New Washington, and Robert Adams of Hanover; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Willis Kessler, whom she married Dec. 21, 1940, and who died April 22, 1989; one son, Eldon Ray "Red" Kessler, who died Nov. 3, 2008; her parents; four brothers, Luther Adams, Albert Adams, Floyd Adams and Elbert Adams; one sister, Viola Turner; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Greenbriar Cemetery in Hanover.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Robert Phillips, 71, of Carrollton, Ky., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at his residence.
He was born March 13, 1941, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Charles Lloyd and Evelyn Keith Phillips. He was a retired plumber. He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God in Bedford, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Martin Phillips; five sons, David Phillips of Russellville, Ky., Daniel Phillips of Ghent, Ky., Steven Phillips of Pensacola, Fla., Martin Phillips of Raleigh, N.C., and Tim Phillips of Salem; and two brothers, Donald Phillips of New Castle, Ky., and Charles Phillips of LaGrange, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jay Phillips; and one sister, Mary Cook.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God, 124 Smith Lane, Bedford, Ky. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Wayne Shelton, 58, of Lexington, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg.
He was born April 27, 1954, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Robert Sr. and Lena Canter Shelton. He was a self-employed bricklayer for more than 20 years until 2012. He also was a lifelong cutter and seller of firewood. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Scott County Sheriffs Association. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, farming and playing corn hole.
He is survived by his wife, Katie Dunham Shelton, whom he married Sept 16, 1973; two daughters, Tanya Horton of North Vernon and Angela Philpot of Lexington; his mother, of North Vernon; three brothers, Ronnie Shelton of North Vernon, and Ricky Shelton and Doug Shelton, both of Hinton, Okla.; five sisters, Donna Dunham and Rosetta Eversole, both of North Vernon, Bonnie Lucas of Medora, Joyce Clark of Deputy and Shirley Johnson of Paris Crossing; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Burial will be in the Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the service.

Carroll F. "Buddy" Swanson, 71, of Bennington, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

Norris Allen Wright, 79, of Bedford, Ky., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at The Richwood in LaGrange, Ky.
He was born July 20, 1933, in Bedford, Ky., the son of Wallace and Edna Pyles Wright. He was member of Bedford Christian Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was on the board of directors of Bedford Loan and Deposit Bank and was chairman of the Bedford Town Board. He enjoyed his time as a member of the Trimble County Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed showing his bird dogs in competitions and received awards in many states.
He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Geneva Ransdell Wright; five children; Deanna Ralston of Bedford, Ky., Neal Wright of Campbellsburg, Ky., Joel Wright of Lecanto, Fla., Paul Wright of Bedford, Ky. and Gena Wright of Hilliard, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. .
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service.
