Monte H. Creech, 64, of Scottsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, in Louisville, Ky.
He was born June 27, 1949, in Dupont, to Elijah and Nora Creech. He retired as a rotary lift operator. He was a former minister of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by one son, Scotty D. Creech of Scottsburg; two daughters, Candy J. Helton of Blocher and Donna Sue Creech of Scottsburg; several brothers and sisters; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Morris Creech; and his parents.
There is no service or visitation scheduled.
Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home in Scottsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Hilda L. Wentworth Meriwether, 91, of Vevay, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at her son's residence in Vevay.
She was born Aug. 20, 1922, on Ryker's Ridge in Jefferson County, to Joseph Allen and Lydia Ann Callis Wentworth. She attended the Vineyard School in Craig Township. She spent most of her life in Switzerland County, working for a short time as a secretary for the Lane Bryant Company in Indianapolis. During World War II, she worked in a factory repairing and rubberizing gas tanks. She enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of the Ebenezer Wesleyan Church in Moorefield. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking, and socializing with family and friends on the telephone.
She is survived by two sons, Donnie L. Meriwether of Vevay and George A. Meriwether of Spring Valley, Calif.; one sister, Jennie Dean Brooks of Allensville; two brothers, Eugene Wentworth of Memphis, Tenn. and Clarence Wentworth of New Albany; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Meriwether, whom she married Oct. 5, 1945, and who died Jan. 15, 1998; her parents; three sisters, Nel Gene Bolton, Rosemary Griswold and Helena "Babe" McKay; two brothers, Charles Wentworth and Melvin Wentworth.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, Sept. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the East Enterprise Wesleyan Church or the Ebenezer Wesleyan Holiness Church. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

Shirley Elizabeth Oak Riley, 71, of Carrollton, Ky., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at her residence.
She was born May 1, 1942, in Carroll County, Ky., to James and Margaret Oak.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Powers of Monterey, Ky.; four daughters, Tammy McIntyre, Nancy Abbott, Barbara Powers and Dana Powers, all of Carrollton, Ky.; four brothers, John Oak, Charles Oak, Donald Oak and Gerald Oak; five sisters, Evelyn Oak, Charlotte Conley, Christine Friendly, Pauline Oak and Cinday Oak; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Oak; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from noon until the service.
