Raymond F. Backus, 84, of Indianapolis, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Bell Mortuary & Crematory's Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel in Indianapolis. A graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Canaan.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Terry Lee Holt, 57, of Madison, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral arrangements and additional information are pending at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.
Robert "Bob" Mills, 75, of Dupont, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
He was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Mills, Ky., to Hobert and Troy Grubbs Mills. He retired in 2002 from Cummins in Columbus. He attended North Madison Christian Church. He enjoyed playing music, his harmonica, cars, car shows and flea markets.
He is survived by one son, Rob Mills of North Vernon; one brother, Frank Mills of Mooresville; two sisters, Shirley Martin of Avon and Betty Siddons of Monrovia; his companion, Emma DeVeary of Madison; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M. Stackhouse Mills, who died Feb. 12, 2002; and his parents.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at North Madison Christian Church. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Motocross. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
