Chamber seeks nominations for special awards

Jefferson County has many businesses and individuals deserving of recognition for the good work they do for our communities.
Again this year, the Madison Chamber and Industrial Development will present two awards at its annual meeting in January - the Jeff Garrett Community Service Award for an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the community, and the Business Service Award for a community-minded business.
The Chamber is asking community members to provide input into who is deserving of the awards. Winners of both awards will be announced at the Chamber's annual dinner in January.
The Business Citizenship Award recognizes outstanding achievements made in business and industry. This award will be given to those who demonstrate leadership, vision, innovation and dedication to the Jefferson County Community.
Any business in Jefferson County that is a member of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce in good standing.
Has increased the business image of the community as viewed on the local, state or national level
Has earned a high level of respect within the business community
Gives generously of themselves and/or staff in time and resources to the community
The Community Service Award is designed to recognize an individual who exemplifies outstanding service to Jefferson County by their actions and contributions to the community outside the work place.
Individual has made major contributions to the quality of life in Jefferson County
Individual is a resident of Jefferson County in good standing
Individual has distinguished himself/herself through outstanding service to Jefferson County in one or more of the following areas: community service projects, youth work, civic club service, church activities, civic improvement projects, philanthropy, or economic development.
Individual has a positive public image and strives toward professional accomplishment
Individual has served the community outside the workplace
Individual is not a previous Jeff Garrett Community Service Award recipient
Individual is not a current elected political official
Individual has exemplary public image favorable to chamber goals
Nominations for both awards are due by Jan. 6, 2014.
