Farmers' Market another sign that spring has arrived
Tuesday, April 02, 2013 11:00 AM
Another sure sign that spring has arrived is the return of the Farmers' Market to the Broadway Fountain. The market opens Saturday and will be held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through October.
The Tuesday and Thursday markets are scaled-down versions of the Saturday market, but all three days offer a wide variety of locally grown and produced goods.
The Farmers' Market is part of an effort to grow and sell produce locally. In the past it has received strong local support, and we expect that to continue.
There are additional benefits to attending the market. While downtown, people should take advantage of shopping and dining opportunities. Our local merchants need and deserve our continued support.
The market also offers a great atmosphere to visit with friends and make new acquaintances.
With gas prices still hovering around $4 a gallon, it makes good sense to shop at home.
The market will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you haven't visit the market before, or if you are new to town, be sure to stop by.
