Mother Nature treated us to a beautiful Sunday
Monday, November 04, 2013 10:00 AM
I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
- Henry David Thoreau
A walk along Madison's riverfront and up the Heritage Trail on Sunday afternoon suggested that many Courierarea folks agree with Thoreau.
There were many walkers taking in the beautiful autumn colors and brisk temperature.
After our walk, we ventured over to Clifty Falls State Park where we saw more of the same...
Families enjoying their time together. Bicyclists - some with expensive cross-country bikes, others with more family-friendly models. Hikers with cameras recording the beautiful colors as the sun shone through the treetops. Experienced hikers who kept up a healthy gait, passing others on leisurely strolls. An elderly woman enjoying the scenery with the help of her family - and a wheelchair.
We're not sure who to attribute this quote to, but it's as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.
We're glad we were able to take in what might be autumn's final act.
