Now we turn our attention

This year's Ribberfest celebration is less than a month away. On Aug. 15-16, the riverfront will come alive with the sounds of great music and the smell of some of the best barbecue you've ever tasted. There still is time to purchase a Ribberfest wristband that includes $10 worth of food coupons. For $20, the advance sale wristband is a terrific deal. Closer to the event, the $20 wristband will not include the food coupons, but it's still a great deal for all the entertainment offered.
Children 12 years old and younger are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Once again, Ribberfest organizers have assembled an impressive list of musicians. Taj Mahal, a Grammy Award winning musician and blues legend, will headline Friday night with his band the Taj Mahal Trio, while Roy Rogers, one of the world's premier slide guitarists, will close out the festival Saturday.
We expect another competitive weekend with individuals and teams showing off their barbecue skills.
Those of you who pride yourself as barbecue experts, should enter the Madison Courier's Backyard Barbecue Blast. Don't let your neighbor win yearlong bragging rights without putting up a fight. And sign up your children for the Kid's Q Contest. Applications to participate in any of the events can be found at www.madisonribberfest.com or by calling the (812) 265-2956 or (800) 559-2956.
Don't delay. Get your wristbands and your entry forms in early and get ready for the 2014 Madison Ribberfest.
