Community members and visitors - in record numbers - enjoyed a variety of tastes and sounds during Saturday's Soup, Stew, Chili & Brew festival on Main Street.

The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored festival highlighted the cooking skills of many in the community. Festival goers enjoyed a wide range of food items - from chili to soup ... From spicy hot to mild, with plenty of surprises mixed in.

Service was quick and always with a smile. No one should have walked away hungry.

Adding to the festivities were lots of good music, games and inflatable toys for the kids.

Add beautiful weather, and the day was a huge success.

When the event premiered 11 years ago it was intended to draw attention to Main Street merchants and was considered a local event. Most shop owners over the years have enthusiastically endorsed the event, saying the extra foot traffic has been good for their business. On Saturday, we saw plenty of folks entering Main Street shops to check out the offerings.

The day was a success on all fronts. The Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and downtown business people gave us a nice way to spend an early fall afternoon.
