United Way set to kick off new campaign

It's time for the community to line up in support of the upcoming Jefferson County United Way campaign. The campaign kickoff banquet will be Friday night at The Livery Stable. It is open to the public.
This year's goal is $360,000, up slightly from last year. We are confident that individuals and businesses will look beyond the goal and give as much as they are able.
In the beginning the annual campaign was known as the Community Chest.
In the ensuing years, about $10 million has been raised and put to good use helping fund agencies that provide a wide variety of services in our community.
It's never easy reaching the goal, but we have every confidence that the folks spearheading the effort will receive strong support from community members.
Whether you choose to give through payroll deductions at work, by writing a check or emptying your piggy bank, the United Way needs your contribution.
The donations are tax deductible, and each dollar stays in the community to assist 14 local agencies.
Those agencies are: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boy Scouts of America Hoosier Trails Council, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Lide White Memorial Boys & Girls Club/Family & Community Center, Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, Southwestern Recreation Association, LifeTime Resources/Sentry Services, Southeastern Indiana Independent Living Center, La Casa Amiga, Turning Point, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, USO and Girls Inc.
