To the editor:

We lost a classic "hometown boy makes good" when Graham Taylor, retired sports editor and then managing editor of The Madison Courier, passed away. Graham and I worked together for 31 years at the Courier, and always had a good, friendly relationship. Graham loved Madison and its people, and was a crackerjack sports writer and sports editor. He was a native Madisonian who started his career with radio station WORX, and was as fine, and well-remembered, as a sportscaster of the Madison Cubs games, as he was later in print journalism. He was always a friendly, jovial man who ran a good newsroom. I considered him my friend, and I'll certainly miss him.
