To the editor:
On behalf of all of us at Love for Lucas and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), we would like to thank everyone for their most generous donations to our cause, to find a treatment and hopeful cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
Thanks to all of you, we surpassed our goal this year. At present, we have sent $13,885.76, and we know how much you care about Lucas, and all the boys in the world with this dreadful, lethal disease.
It is very touching and meaningful to see your love manifested through your generous gifts of money, goods donated to our auction and raffle. Your participation in our poker run, softball and all the other events. The bands were outstanding, and your tireless volunteering.
A very special thank you to The Madison Courier's writer Renee Bruck for her wonderful, heartfelt story about our Lucas and family. Thank so very much to Ken Ritchie who captured the beautiful picture of our boy, Lucas.
All funds raised from Love for Lucas, goes directly to the Biglycan study, led by founder Justin Fallon, PhD. Dr. Fallon received a large donation from PPMD, and the National Institute of Health (NIH), and is now ready to begin human clinical trials, and by working on a fast track, this is an extremely exciting and promising therapy, that is expected to help all boys with DMD.
We have begun mapping out plans for our next benefit. We will not stop until our goal of knowing all boys with DMD will have the treatment to continue a successful, healthy and happy life that they so richly deserve.
We always end with the quote by Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever does."
