Bears celebrate 70th anniversary

Lowary Ray and Virginia Brooks Bear, of Madison, formerly of Vevay, will celebrate their 70th anniversary on Saturday. The couple exchange vows Nov. 12, 1946, at the Methodist parsonage in Madison. Rev. J.T. Vincent officiated.

The couple resided near Vevay for 50 years before selling their farm, which is now known as the Thiebaud Farmstead, in July 1997.
Mr. Bear farmed and worked as a painter and in construction. Mrs. Bear was a homemaker.
The couple has eight children, Beverly Jones and husband Ronald of Cleveland, Tenn.; Gerald Bear, Mike Bear and wife Sue, and Sharon LaMasters, all of Vevay; the late Lynn Bear; the late Calvin Gregory Bear; Debbie Gregory and husband Eddie of Florence; and Cathy Perkins and husband John of New Albany. They also have 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, along with two late grandchildren.
