Angel Food finds a new home in Trimble County

Milton Wesleyan Church has become an Angel Food Ministries site where pre-ordered food can be picked up. The national Angel Food program offers food at a discount to anyone, regardless of income.
Senior Pastor Ben Colburn said the food is distributed through nonprofit organizations and offers meals that cater to families, the elderly, children and anyone else.
"It's an exceptional deal money-wise," he said, "and the food is very, very good."
Orders will be taken in Trimble County, Ky., June 12 from noon to 2 p.m. and June 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Milton Wesleyan Church.
Menus can be picked up in Milton, Ky., at Riverside Produce, the post office and Dollar General; at the Midway Stop-N-Go between Milton and Bedford, Ky.; and at the Trimble County Library in Bedford, Ky.
Orders will be taken in Jefferson County at Ohio Valley Opportunities, 425 Walnut St., June 10 and 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. Orders can also be placed at the Madison First Church of the Nazarene, 2000 Cragmont St., on June 13 from noon to 1 p.m., June 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and June 20 from noon. to 1 p.m.; and at First Christian Church of Hanover, 6192 State Road 56, June 16 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Cash, money orders and food stamps are acceptable forms of payment. Orders can also be placed online at www.angelfoodministries.com and paid for with a credit or debit card.
"It costs about $30 to feed a family of four for a week," Colburn said.

Signature Box, $30: Four sirloin steaks, 2 pounds mac and beef dinner entree, 1 pound ground beef, 1 pound chicken breast fajita strips, 32 count breaded crunchy fish bites, 1.5 pounds smoked chicken sausage, 2 pound green beans, 1 pound fajita blend onions and pepper strips, 1 pound rice, 25 oz. pasta sauce, 1 pound pasta, 3 pounds potatoes, 32 ounces 2% shelf stable milk, a dozen eggs and a dessert item.
Senior/Convenience Box, $28: 10 meals - roasted chicken in sauce with red skin potatoes and sugar snap peas and carrots; chicken broccoli alfredo with broccoli, fettuccini noodles and alfredo sauce with carrots, zucchini and red peppers; chicken chow mein over lo-mein noodles, mixed vegetables with sauce with sugar snap peas and cauliflower; chicken teriyaki over fried rice blend with teriyaki sauce with sugar snap peas and carrots; sweet and sour chicken over rice with vegetables and pineapple in a sweet and sour sauce with sugar snap peas and carrots; Salisbury steak with red skin potatoes and gravy with peas and carrots and cauliflower; chili with beef and beans with corn and red peppers and peas; beef stew with potatoes, carrots, celery and onions with Brussels sprouts, corn and red pepper blend; fiesta chicken with sauce over white rice with corn and cauliflower; macaroni and beef with noodles, carrots and zucchini blend; and assorted sugar free desserts.
Allergen Free Box, $23: One pound breaded chicken fillets, 1 pound breaded chicken nuggets, 1 pounds cubed steak, 1 pound breaded chicken wings and 1 pound breaded chicken tenders. All items processed to eliminate the eight top serious allergens: Peanuts, soybeans, milk, eggs, fish, crustacea, tree nuts and gluten.
6-pound Seafood Box, $35: Two pounds snow crab legs, 1 pound shrimp, eight stuffed crab and 2 pounds popcorn shrimp.
After School Box, $24: Four stuffed sandwiches, 1.5 pounds mini corn dogs, two mini chicken sandwiches, 2 pounds chicken tenders, 1 pound string cheese, 2 peanut butter and jelly jamwiches, 1 nacho lunch snack, 1 turkey and cheese lunch snack and 1 ham and cheese lunch snack.
After School Fruit Box, $16: Three red delicious apples, 3 oranges, two packs celery sticks, 1 pound baby carrots, 3 granny smith apples, 1 6-pack of apple sauce, 2.5 ounces of apple or sweet potato chips, 2 ranch dressing c ups, 1 3-pack fruit juice and 6 ounces banana chips.
Specials can be ordered individually without the purchase of the signature, senior and convenience or allergen free boxes.
Special 1: 6-pound Assorted Meat Grill Box, $23. Two rib-eye steaks, 2 pounds bone-in pork chops, four bacon wrapped turkey mignon.
Special 2: Chicken and Rib Box, $17. 3 pounds whole chicken and 3 pounds baby back ribs.
Special 3: Flavored Hamburger Box, $19. Four Dijon mustard, 4 mozzarella cheese and 4 cheese flavored 8 ounce hamburger patties.
Special 4: Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Box, $22. Four yellow corn, 2 zucchini squash, 2 yellow squash, 1 head green cabbage, 1 stalk celery, 1 pineapple, 1 mango, 6 lemons, 1 avocado, 1 cantaloupe, 3 pounds red potatoes, 2 pounds onions and one June fruit and veggie recipe sheet.
Special 4: Bit O' Blessing Box, $21. Four hamburger steaks, 2 pounds mac and beef dinner entree, 1 pound chicken breast fajita strips, 1.5 pounds smoked sausage, 2 pound green beans, 1 pound fajita blend onions and peppers, 1 pound rice, 1 pound frozen broccoli, and 21 ounces frozen fruit.
