The Saluda Homemakers met Aug. 14, 2013 at Ponderosa with five members present, including Delores Bruther, Diana Giltner, Lisa Kramer, Dorothy Canada and Martha Knigga and guest Mary Kraft. Kramer opened the meeting with the Extension Homemakers Club Creed followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the song of the month, "In the Good Old Summertime." Knigga gave a devotion, "The Birthday Gift." The club sang to Bruther for her birthday. Members answered roll call with their most memorable vacation. Canada gave the secretary's report and Giltner gave the treasurer's report. Achievement Day is set for Sept. 13 at Kent United Methodist with a theme of Backyard Friends. Giltner will make name tags, Knigga table decoration and Canada is responsible for the lesson table and door prizes. The club needs baked goods to sell at the Neavill's Grove Old Settlers Meeting. The proceeds from the sale go towards local scholarships and community projects. The lesson from "Who Gets Grandmother's Yellow Pie Plate" was presented by Canada. The club made fall posters for the Hanover Nursing Home. The club's next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at Ponderosa.
