Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council
The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council met Dec. 5, 2013, at Harry's Stone Grill. Dorothy Canada said grace. Vice president Kay Dunham conducted a short business meeting. Clubs brought gifts for the first baby to be born at King's Daughters' Hospital in 2014. Members voted to purchase a gift for council president Lisa Kramer, who was in the hospital. The lesson plan, "Who Gets Grandma's Pie Plate" was given to club presidents for members. The next council meeting will be at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 6, 2014 at the Jefferson County Public Library Madison branch.
The Sunshine Homemakers met Dec. 11, 2013 at Dorothy Morgan's residence. Morgan provided snack foods for the club and presided over the meeting. The club said the Extension Homemakers Club Creed and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Members sang the song of the month, "Hark The Herald Angels Sing." Morgan gave devotions from Isaiah 40:31 along with two readings from Paul Davis, "God's Christmas Gift" and "Mornings with Jesus." The club voted to give a gift to the Hanover Police Department towards their K-9 Fund. Morgan passed out the lesson plan, "Who Gets Grandma's Pie Plate." Members answered roll call with what they were going to do to decorate for Christmas. The quote of the month was from Henry Emerson Fosdick, "Hating people is like burning down your own house to get rid of a rat." The thought for the month was, "A smile is a light in the window of the soul indicating that the heart is home." The club's next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8, 2014 at Hanover Baptist Church.
