The Saluda Homemakers met Nov. 14 at the home of Martha Knigga with eight members present, including: Evelyn Crafton, Maxine Crafton, Faye King, Helen Wise, Knigga, Lisa Kramer, Ruth Kramer and Dorothy Canada. There were also two guests attending, Hazel Wilkerson and Crystal Epply. The meeting was opened with the Extension Homemakers Club Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the singing of "How Great Thou Art." Evelyn Crafton gave a devotion from Genesis 12:2 titled, "Count Your Blessings." Members answered roll call by talking about their Thanksgiving plans. Epply won the door prize. Items for a Thanksgiving basket were collected and it was delivered. Lisa Kramer told members that the Indiana Extension Homemakers will celebrate 100 years in 2013 and that pins in honor of the achievement were available for $3. The club discussed moving the meeting place to the Jewel House, vinegar books and the gift for the first Jefferson County baby of the year. Dorothy Canada gave a lesson on fall vegetables. Maxine Crafton read the thought for the month and Evelyn Crafton read the quote of the month. The club's next meeting was set for 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Heritage House with a pitch-in meal and gift exchange.
