The Smyrna Homemakers met Nov. 14 at Hopewell Baptist Church. The meeting was called to order by club president Janet McMahan. Devotions were read by Linda Phillips. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Eight members answered the roll call with their plans for Thanksgiving. The council meeting was discussed. Smyrna will donate receiving blankets for the first baby of the new year in Jefferson County. A vote was taaken to skip a Christmas gift exchange and donate $45 to the Salvation Army instead. The next meeting was set for Dec. 11 at the home of Anna Bell for a pitch-in lunch. A visit to members who are shut-in was also planned. The meeting closed with the singing of "How Great Thou Art" and dessert served by Linda Phillips.
