Pilot Club of Madison's monthly meeting and Valentine's Day celebration was held Feb. 14 at the Madison Senior Center. Several community projects and proposals were reviewed with a feature presentation by Tom Pritchard of the Madison Area Bicycle Club.
Pilot club members expressed interest in collaboration with MABC and other community organizations to facilitate a "bicycle rodeo," for both children and adults to promote bicycling awareness. The event would specifically address issues of safety, bicycle maintenance and health benefits. The club hopes to host the event prior to end of school year and summer break. Other community organizations interested in being a part of the event can visit the MABC website, www.madisonbicycleclub.org, for additional information.
Nominations for club officers for the 2013-2014 term were accepted. Induction ceremonies were held for new members Candice Fulk and Sharon McCoy.
Pilot Club of Madison's 45th Annual Old Court Days will be held May 24-26. Booth space is still available at $75.00 per booth. To register or for more information call Dee Gauger at (812) 273-6226 or Linda McDaniels at (812) 273-0550.
Club meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Madison Senior Center.
The Saluda Homemakers met Feb. 13 at Ponderosa Steak House with five members in attendance, including Lisa Kramer, Ruth Kramer, Dianna Giltner, Evelyn Crafton and Dorothy Canada. Giltner presented members with valentines. Lisa Kramer conducted the meeting. Members recited the Extension Homemakers Club Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance, and sang the song of the month, "Let Me Call You Sweetheart." Evelyn Crafton gave devotions from Isaiah 45:1. Club birthdays were recognized and cards were sent to Vivian Shatley and Dottie Demaree. Members answered the roll call with their favorite hobby. Canada read the secretary's report. Ruth Kramer gave the treasurer's report. Lisa Kramer reported on the quilt show, which will be held April 13-14 at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. Members will meet March 5 and March 19 at Hanover Baptist Church to work on a denim throw, which will be given away. The spring district meeting will be March 11 in Versailles, the cost of the meal is $10 and must be paid to the treasurer by Feb. 28. Canada presented a lesson on nutrition and aging. Following the meeting, members made door hangings for St. Patrick's Day for the Hanover Nursing Center.
