Vevay’s Historic Hoosier Theater will host a playful puppet show this weekend for young audiences and families.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Frisch Marionettes, a Cincinnati-based puppet company, will perform a variety show featuring one of its signature creations: Barnaby the Bear.

The company was started by Kevin Frisch in 1995 after he had worked developing his skills with a company in New York City.

Frisch’s company has built puppets, masks and costumes for the Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, The Children’s Theater of Cincinnati and Puppetworks Inc. of New York.

Frisch creations have been featured in People Magazine, the Showtime network’s “Twisted Puppet Theater,” PBS documentary “The American Puppet,” CBS show “2 Broke Girls,” and onstage with the Cincinnati Opera.

Puppets also have been featured in window displays for high-end New York City stores and in films such as “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” and “Warehouse 13.”

Tickets for the show are $5 and may be purchased the night of the show or in advance at the Switzerland County Tourism office.
