Nickel and Dimed: The Madison Community Players will present "Nickel and Dimed," by Joan Holden, based on Barbara Ehrenreich's book "Nickel and Dimed, on (Not) Getting by in America." The play will be presented at Democratic Headquarters, 406 E. Main St., at 7 p.m. May 3-4 and May 10-11, and at 2:30 p.m. May 5 and May 12. A round table discussion will follow the May 5 show. Jefferson County Women Build: Registration is now open for the second annual Jefferson County Women Build event May 10-11. No building experience is required. All training and tools will be provided for the 4-hour shifts, along with lunch, t-shirts and construction goodies. A $25 donations is requested per participant. Kids' Fourth Monday Storytime: Jill Kelly Koren will read to young book lovers at 11 a.m. at Village Lights Bookstore. Selections will be tailored to the age of the audience.

Monday Matinee Classics: Will screen the "Carson City Kid" starring Roy Rogers on April 29 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

1974 Tornado: Trinity United Methodist Church, 412 W. Main St., will host a slide show presentation of photographs documenting the 1974 tornado from 6:45 to 8 p.m. in the church's downstairs dining room.

Pancake Breakfast: The Hanover Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons 652 will host a pancake, waffle, egg, sausage and bacon breakfast from 6 to 10:30 a.m. at 240 W. Main St., Hanover. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Emergency Disaster Training: The Salvation Army will host an emergency disaster response and services training workshop from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The training is required for anyone wishing to volunteer during Salvation Army emergency response and is open to anyone interested in how to best assist others during a disaster.
