Looking Ahead items must be in writing and hand-carried, mailed, faxed or e-mailed to The Madison Courier at least two weeks before the date of the activity, meeting or event. Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of the Canyon River Band. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per person.
Friday Crafts: Will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.
Artist Reception: Will be held at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library for the photography exhibit of Norma Birchfield. Live music will be provided by Vanessa Birchfield.
Pajama Party: Trimble County Public Library will host a pajama party starting at 9:30 a.m. with stories and fun. The program is designed for children from preschool to second grade, and their families.
Bluebird Nest Box Workshop: Clifty Falls State Park will host a bluebird nest box workshop at 10:30 a.m. at Clifty Inn. The program is suitable for families. Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Fees of $2 per person ages 5 and older, and $10 per kid will be due. There will not be a park gate fee. Space is limited. River's Bend Writers Group: The newly formed community of writers will meet at 1:30 p.m. to read each other's work and provide respectful feedback. The meetings are held at the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison.
Senior Dance: Will host the Honky Tonk Band from 5:15 to 9:30 p.m. at the Lide White Boys and Girls Club. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. The band will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5. For more information call (812) 599-0848 or (812) 274-0338.
Christian Motorcycle Association: The "Soul Survivors" Madison Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 331 E. Main St. The group meets on the fourth Saturday of the month. For more information call (502) 759-4821.
Barbeque Chicken Fundraiser: The Madison Blades Fencing Club's barbeque chicken and beverages fundraiser will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Thomas Family Winery. The all-you-can-eat meal is $20. Tickets are available at the Lide White Memorial Boys & Girls Club and the winery. For more information call (812) 265-5811.
A Taste of Soul: The Human Rights Commission will host "A Taste of Soul" at 2 p.m. at the AME Church. Enjoy a free sampling of various freshly prepared soul food. Sue Livers will take about soul food in African American culture and there will also be a short presentation on the role of the Underground Railroad in the Madison area.
Jefferson County Board of Tourism: Will meet at 9 a.m. at the Madison Visitors Center, 601 W. First St.
Moving for Better Health: The free senior exercise class will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays at the Brown Gym. For more information call (812) 273-1072.

Monday Matinee Classics: The Ohio Theatre will screen classic films each Monday in February with free showings at 1:30 p.m. Buster Keaton's "The General" will be shown Feb. 25.
Court Street Cinemas: Will show Ben Affleck's Argo at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library with popcorn and soft drinks. The film is rated R.
Historic District Board of Review: Will meet at 6:30 p.m. in Madison City Hall. The filing deadline for applications to be considered is Feb. 6.
Jefferson County Movie Club: Will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Public Library Madison Branch. The group will discuss "Thunderheart," which stars Val Kilmer, Sam Shepard, Graham Greene and Shiela Tousey. The meeting will include free popcorn.
Lexington Historical Society: Will feature Hanover College's Dr. Larry DeBuhr speaking on the Eleutherian College and efforts to preserve the 1840s school at 7 p.m. at Lexington Christian Church. The building is accessible. All are welcome.
Veterans Benefits Representative: A veterans benefits field representative from the Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs will be at the Veterans Affairs Health Clinic in Carrollton, Ky. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The representative will be available to assist veterans and widows/widowers for free in filing for federal and state benefits for veterans and dependents. Toddler Time: Will be held at 11 a.m. at the Carroll County Public Library for children up to age 3 1/2.
Fourth Monday Book Group: The Carroll County Public Library's Fourth Monday Book Group will discuss "The Language of Flowers" from Vanessa Diffenbaugh at noon. Copies are available at the desk.
Blood Drive: The American Red Cross will host a community blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. in the gymnasium of Lydia Middleton Elementary School, 714 W. 911 Communications Administrative Board of Jefferson County: Will meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. at Madison City Hall. For more information call (812) 273-3313.
The Help: The Jefferson County Public Library Madison Branch will host a showing of "The Help" at 5:30 p.m. in the library auditorium. A local book club lead by Michelle Barlow will lead a discussion on the movie and film. Light snacks will be provided.
Teen Council: The Jefferson County Public Library Madison Branch will host a meeting of the teen council for middle and high school students at 5:30 p.m. Help the library plan events for young adults.
American Chronic Pain Association: Will meet at 6 p.m. at the Jefferson County Public Library Madison Branch. Learn how to deal with chronic pain in a positive way.
Booktalk: The Trimble County Public Library will host a book discussion on Kelli Carmean's "Creekside" from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the library. For more information call (502) 255-7362.
Alzheimer's Support Group: Will meet at 7 p.m. at Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center in the continuing education area in Wing 1. The free meeting offers an educational program and light refreshments. For more information call (812) 866-2625.
