Beginning Japanese: Learn basic Japanese phrases, cultural differences and etiquette, and how the Japanese alphabets and symbols work. Amelia Payne will host the six-week program Mondays at 6:30 p.m. from Feb. 24 to March 31 at the Jefferson County Public Library Madison branch. Mama Won't Fly Auditions: The Madison Community Players will hold auditions for the upcoming production of "Mama Won't Fly" at the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, 301 E. Tobacco Production Update and Trainings: Dr. Robert Pearce, University of Kentucky tobacco specialist, will give an update on tobacco production and provide training on good agricultural production practices for tobacco. Carrollton City Council: Will meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in council chambers at Carrollton City Hall.
Lexington Historical Society: Will meet at 7 p.m. at the Lexington Christian Church. The program was rescheduled from January. Membership due of $10 may be paid at the meeting. The speaker will be Jennifer Beckman, a bee keeper near Lexington. A dessert will be served. The location is wheelchair accessible.
Carroll County Fiscal Court: Will meet at 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in the Fiscal Court on the second floor of the Carroll County Courthouse.
B4K Club: Will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the Carroll County Public Library.

Work It Wednesday: The monthly business networking lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. at 301 E. Main St. The presentation will be on the Madison Consolidated Schools referendum and how it would affect businesses. A light lunch will be provided. Overdrive Big Library Read: Join the Carroll County Public Library in a world-wide library read event. Download "Keys to the Kitchen" by Aida Mollenkamp for free from Overdrive between Feb. 17 and March 5. Then connect with other readers and the author on Facebook and Twitter between 8 and 9 p.m.

UFO Quilt Day: In the world of quilting a UFO is an unfinished project. Bring an unfinished project, whether it was started last week or last year, and join others for a productive day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library. Knitters are also welcome.
Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of Steel Country. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per person.
No More Cutting: A support group for girls from junior high to college who struggle with depression, fear, anxiety and suicidal thoughts will meet every Friday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1429 Clifty Drive, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The group is spiritually-based and non-denominational.
