Author Fair: That Book Place, 337 Clifty Drive, will host their anniversary celebration with author's seminars and author's fair March 15-16 with more than 60 authors discussing and signing their books. Saturday's author fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cool Suit: Shawe Memorial High School's Theater Department will present "Cool Suit," a musical version of the book, "The Emperor's New Clothes," by Hans Christian Anderson March 15-16. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rev. Hilary Meny Gymnasium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 17 and younger. The school will also host a dessert and beverage buffet in the high school student lounge about an hour before the play to raise funds for a new costume closet.
Willabella Witch's Last Spell: The Little Grand Theatre Company will present "Willabella Witch's Last Spell" at 7 p.m. March 15-16 and at 2:30 p.m. March 16-17 at The Ohio Theatre. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults.
Geek-A-Thon: Hanover College's Tabletop Club, Feminists of Hanover College, Anime Club and Science Fiction and Fantasy Club will host the event March 15-17 in the college's Classic Hall.
Switzerland County Health and Community Resource Fair: The free health fair will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Belterra Resort Casino's ballroom. The event will feature free health screenings, assistive technology device information and local resources. It is sponsored by the Southeastern Indiana Independent Living Center. Irish Celebration: Jewel House, 607 Virginia Ave., will host an Irish celebration to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with music and refreshments at 1 p.m. The event is presented by the Madison Celtic Society.
St. Paddy's Party: Downtown Madison will feature a St. Patrick's Day celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will feature Irish Road Bowling from 5 p.m. to dark, sign up will be on Jefferson Street. A leprechaun costume contest will include a $25 cash prize. The event will also include free trolley rides, bagpipers, step dancing and an Irish heritage display. Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of the Gary Hewitt and the Honky Tonk Band. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per person.
Rock and Read Around the Clock: Village Lights Bookstore will host a 24-hour reading marathon and children's book drive from 6 p.m. March 15 to 6 p.m. March 16 in celebration of Read Across America Month. For more information call (812) 265-1800.
Barefoot Best Friends :The Madison Performing Arts Foundation will present the Barefoot Best Friends at 7 p.m. March 15 at the First Baptist Church, 416 Vine St. The group of young performers returns to Madison for an evening of Irish, Celtic and folk music.
Household Hazardous Waste: Will be collected from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District Switzerland/Ohio County Recycling Center, 19 McCreary Ridge Road in East Enterprise. For more information call (812) 534-2040.
Health and Safety Fair: Will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cartmell Elementary School. The event, sponsored by the Carroll County Health and Safety Partnership, will include community vendors and organizations, prizes, giveaways and lunch. Easter Egg Hunt: Hickory Creek will host an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. with refreshments and games. The Easter Bunny will be available after the hunt.
Growin' Up Kentucky: Reminisce with author, Eva Johnson Allan, about childhood and growing up in rural Carroll County, Ky. 812 for Phil: Area band Shock Treatment, All Became New, Should This Armor Fail, SKRUM and DJ Tyler Stewboth will take the stage March 16 at The Electric Lady as part of a memorial benefit concert. The show will begin at 7 p.m. The cover is $5. Additional events will be held throughout the day, including Jimmy Davis performing at noon, a cornhole tournament at 2 p.m. and Celtic band West of Dublin performing from 4 to 7 p.m.
