Nights Before Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes: Tours of public sites and private homes continue Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Hagar's Children: Hanover College Theatre will present "Hagar's Children," a different kind of Christmas play with music, about unconditional love. Light Up Downtown Carrollton: Will kick off at 5 p.m. with music from an elementary school chorus and local singer Jeannie Rider. The switch to the downtown lights will be thrown at 6 p.m. by Carrollton Mayor Gene McMurry and Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold "Shorty" Tomlinson.
Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of Gary Hewitt and the Honky Tonk Band. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $3 and includes snacks, drinks and door prizes.
Louisville Brass Concert: The Madison Performing Arts Foundation will host the Louisville Brass Band at 7 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. The event was rescheduled from Dec. 8.
Festival of Trees: General Butler State Resort Park will kick off the holiday season and the annual Festival of Trees with Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton, Ky. Menu and buffet items will be available for purchase. A pottery workshop and caricature photos will be available from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the lodge. The events are free to attend. David Stahl and Freddie Helm will provide live music at 7 p.m. The holiday trees will be on display throughout the day's events and will continue to be on display throughout the holiday season.

Christmas Craft Fair: Hanover College will host a Christmas craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Lynn Gym.
The Very Merry Christmas Parade: Will be begin at 10 a.m. and will feature children's characters strolling down Main St. The parade is expected to last one hour and it will run from Jefferson St. to Broadway with musical acts and more than 40 community participants. Following the event, patrons also will have the opportunity for a meet-and-greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the children's book characters at downtown businesses. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at The Ohio Theatre. Garfield will be at River Valley Financial Bank, while Skippyjon Jones will visit Village Lights Bookstore. Curious George will make an appearance at Little People's Boutique and The Berenstain Bear Family will be at Jefferson County Public Library Madison branch.
The Polar Express: Will be shown at The Ohio Theatre following the City of Madison Christmas parade. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be on hand for a meet-and-greet with children.
A Christmas Carroll: Will kick off with a parade at 11 a.m. followed by Santa being available until 3:30 p.m. for photos and to meet children at Santa's house on Main St., near the Carroll County Courthouse. Photos will be $5, with the proceeds going to the local "Shop with a Cop" program. The event also includes the "Visions of Sugar Plums" baking contest at McNeal's Trustworthy Hardware, 123 Fifth St., Carrollton, Ky. Craft tents and vendors featuring homemade crafts and baked goods will be on the courthouse lawn from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A Child's Christmas in Wales: Local poet Jack Ramey will read "A Child's Christmas in Wales" from Dylan Thomas at 2 p.m. at Village Lights Bookstore in observation of Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day. Warm cider and cookies will be provided for children.
Vevay Christmas Parade: Will begin at 3 p.m. at the Switzerland County Fairground. The line-up will travel through Main Street and down to Paul Ogle Riverfront Park. At the park, Santa will officially start the town's Christmas season by lighting up the decorations on the riverfront.
Chili Supper and Silent Auction: Hanover Helping Haiti will present a chili supper and silent auction from 5 to 7 p.m. in Donner Lecture Hall at Hanover College. Admission is $5.
Senior Dance: Will host the Country Classics Saturday from 5:15 to 9:30 p.m. at the Lide White Boys and Girls Club. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. The band will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5. For more information call (812) 599-0848 or (812) 274-0338.
Handel's "Messiah": The Hanover College Concert Choir and Madison-Ohio Valley Community Chorus will perform selections from Handel's "Messiah" at 2 p.m. in the Fitzgibbon Recital Hall, Lynn Center for Fine Arts on the Hanover College campus. The performance is expected to last about an hour. Tickets are $7 and are available at the door.
