Honey, top, is a sweet girl that likes to snuggle. She is quiet at the shelter, but be playful once she has found a home. She is going to big girl and weighs around 20 pounds at 10 to 12-weeks-old. She is a black Labrador retriever mix that has white on her tail, on her toes and on her chest. She is spayed and has had a rabies vaccination. Her adoption fee is $45.
A large dog trap was either mistakenly picked up or stolen. It was last placed near the fence line at the Jefferson County Proving Grounds. The trap has a dog tag on it and "JCAS" etched onto the top. Anyone with information call (812) 273-1788 or drop the trap off at the shelter. Traps are used to capture injured or scared animals safely.
Clara, bottom, is a lap cat. She likes to be around people and snuggle. She has medium length fur and is mostly white with gray on her ears and tail. She is one-year-old.
The Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter currently has more than 13 dogs and puppies, and 14 cats and kittens available. Pictures of additional pets waiting for adoption can be seen at www.sisaveapet.com.
Animals who were at the shelter during Christmas and haven't been adopted are now $50 off of their adoption and spay/neuter fees through Jan. 27. Fees for dogs Laila and Jack and cats Angel, Buttons, Iris, Kira, Neko and Sparkle are discounted.
Normal shelter hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. It is closed Tuesday. The shelter number is (812) 273-1788 and their email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The shelter is collecting aluminum cans for the dog and cat medical fund. Donors can drop off rinsed and dried aluminum cans at the shelter.
Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter to help with walking dogs, playing with puppies and kittens and many other tasks. Volunteers must be 16 years old.
Donations can be mailed to 2727 Hannah Drive, Madison, IN 47250 or dropped off during shelter hours.
Animals should not be abandoned outside of the shelter or dropped off at the shelter after hours.
