Lurch, top, is a big, goofy boy with lots of energy! He is a friendly and outgoing yellow Labrador retriever that is looking for a family to play with him and train him. He is a 1 to 2-years-old, weighs 89 pounds, and is neutered. His adoption fee is just $45 plus the cost of a rabies vaccination.

Mina, bottom, will be a wonderful companion. She is quiet and shy until you pay attention to her and then she will talk. She is a beautiful, long-haired tortoiseshell with white patches. She is a sweet girl that is 1 to 2-years-old and is spayed. She is also up-to-date on all her vaccinations and is only $45 to adopt.

There are several cats and dogs at the shelter that are already spayed or neutered and are only $45 to adopt. There are also several pets that have $50 sponsorships toward their spay/neuter fees.

Normal shelter hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. It is closed Tuesday. The shelter number is (812) 273-1788 and their email is

The shelter is collecting aluminum cans for the dog and cat medical fund. Donors can drop off rinsed and dried aluminum cans at the shelter.

Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter to help with walking dogs, playing with puppies and kittens and many other tasks. Volunteers must be 16 years old.

Donations can be mailed to 2727 Hannah Drive, Madison, IN 47250 or dropped off during shelter hours.

Animals should not be abandoned outside of the shelter or dropped off at the shelter after hours.
