Murray, above, is very affectionate and will ask for attention. He is a handsome boy with soft fur that doesn't shed as much as most longer-haired cats. He is 1 to 2-years-old and is white with orange Tabby markings. A home with small children would not be his choice as he's not patient with small hands that can accidentally hurt him.

Gair, below, is a sweet, laid-back 1 to 2-year-old. He is still a puppy at heart. He is a snuggler and would like to be someone's lap puppy. He's unique for a hound, one of his eyes is blue and one is brown. Gair is alert and will bark to let you know something is happening. He is a medium-sized, tri-color Treeing Walker Coonhound mix that weighs 34 pounds. He is $50 off his adoption, neuter and rabies vaccination fees.

The Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter currently has more than 22 dogs and puppies, and 30 cats and kittens available. Pictures of additional pets waiting for adoption can be seen at

Thanks to a sponsor, all cats one-year-old or older are $45 off of their adoption, rabies vaccination and spay/neuter fees. Eligible cats who are already spayed or neutered are $25 off of their adoption fees.
