Gerry Riley will celebrate her 90th birthday Nov. 3. Riley was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Bennington, the first child of Dale and Edith Shadday. She is a 1939 graduate of Central High School. She married Eddie Riley in 1940. After her husband returned from World War II, the couple settled on a farm on Scotch Ridge near Pleasant and lived there for 26 years before moving into the Key subdivision near Madison's hilltop in 1974.

Until recently, she was a regular volunteer at King's Daughters' Hospital, working in the gift shop every Monday. She continues to play the piano and teach Sunday school at Macedonia Baptist Church near Moorefield.

Her family will host a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at the North Madison Christian Church. All are welcome. Cards are welcome, but she requests no gifts.
