Abigail Garrett of Madison was selected by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion Auxiliary to attend the 73rd annual Hoosier Girls State from June 22-28 at Trine University.
Garrett, a junior at Southwestern High School, joined approximately 550 others for the government program designed to educate future leaders in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
Garrett is the daughter of Kenny and Melinda Garrett.
Gail Peak of Madison recently participated in the 94th commencement ceremony at Lewis University.
She graduated with a 3.9 grade point average and received the senior award for sports medicine, ranking first in her class.
Peak has been accepted to the master of business administration program for health care management at Lewis. She has served as a graduate assistant to the Army ROTC Unit at the university.
Elizabeth Lynn Scott was named to the dean's list at Pensacola Christian College for the spring semester of the 2013-2014 school year. Students must earn a B average or higher to be named to the list. She is the daughter of Troy and Christi Scott of Florence, Ky. and the granddaughter of Betty Delph of Bedford, Ky.
Katherine Jean Scott was named to the dean's list at in the business college at Northern Kentucky University for the spring semester of the 2013-2014 school year. She is the daughter of Troy and Christi Scott of Florence, Ky. and the granddaughter of Betty Delph of Bedford, Ky.
Two local students were among 1,707 Eastern Kentucky University graduates during May 10 commencement ceremonies.
Ethan Thomas Manley of Carrollton, Ky. graduated with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.
Eric Lee Muncie of Milton, Ky. graduated with a specialist program degree in school psychology.

Students named to the list must attempt 14 or more credit hours while earning a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 grade point average, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 grade point average.
T.J. McClelland of Madison was named to the dean's list for spring semester of the 2013-2014 school year at Marian University. He is the son Tom and Pam McClelland.
