Several Madison Consolidated High School FFA students were honored with state FFA degrees as well as several state awards at Purdue University in June.

The school sent 16 students to the event.

Katy McFarland was honored with the Section 4 Star in agribusiness. McFarland also won first place in the job interview contest in Indiana and first place in specialty animal production proficiency.

She will go on to compete in the national contest in both catagories and will earn $250 for her efforts.

Ben Hay won first place in the state in agriculture mechanics demonstration and was awarded a $10,000 scholarship.

Trisha Webster was elected as a district officer and will represent 12 other schools in the area.

Amanda Briggs, the FFA coordinator for Madison Consolidated High School, was awarded the Outstanding Teacher in the State Award and the Outstanding Program Award for the district.

The chapter was awarded with winning Top 30 FFA Chapter out of over 190 chapters. The Madison high school group also was honored as a Gold Emblem Chapter.
