Students in the Madison Consolidated Schools junior varsity winter guard will move on to semi-state competition later this month. The MCS guard are competing in the regional A class of the Indiana High School Color Guard Association.

On Saturday, all 69 groups in Class A competed at Decatur Central High School in preliminary competition. The top 24 groups were chosen to move on to semi-state this weekend at Plainsville High School. From those top 24, 12 groups will advance to the state finals on March 18.

This is the first year the class has been included in state qualifications, making Madison’s group one of the first to compete at this level.

Stephanie Matthews is the director of the junior varsity squad. Tim Patton is the direct of the guard program.
