Eastern Kentucky University recently announced the president's list for the fall semester of the 2012-2013 school year. Two local students were among the 1,224 students named to the list:

Jillian Leigh Butcher, of Carrollton, Ky., is a junior pre-nursing major.

Zoe Ashlee Mires, of Madison, is a freshman pre-communication disorders major. Mires is the daughter of Theron and Jill Mires. She is a 2012 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School.

Students named to the president's list are full-time undergraduate students who earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average for a semester.



Eastern Kentucky University recently announced the recipients of the dean's award for the fall semester of the 2012-2013 school year. Three local students were among the 505 students honored:

Jillian Leigh Butcher, of Carrollton, Ky., is a junior pre-nursing major.

Jacob Allen Blair, of Bedford, Ky., is a sophomore journalism major.

Karen Denise Popp, of Bedford, Ky., is a senior general studies in arts and sciences major.

Students give the dean's award must earn dean's list honors for three semesters at EKU. A lapel pin is presented to students by the dean of their academic college.



Eastern Kentucky University has announced that 2,901 students were named to the dean's list honors for the fall semester of the 2012-2013 school year.

Eight local students were named to the list:

Jillian Leigh Butcher, of Carrollton, Ky., is a junior pre-nursing major.

Jacob Allen Blair, of Bedford, Ky., is a sophomore journalism major.

Brian Jordan Hemmer, of Bedford, Ky., is a sophomore aviation major.

Karen Denise Popp, of Bedford, Ky., is a senior general studies in arts and sciences major.

Konnor Dale Kimmel, of Milton, Ky., is a freshman marketing major.

Michael Andrew Gonterman, of Carrollton, Ky., is a freshman finance major.

Megan Ann Winter, of Vevay, is a senior athletic training major.

Zoe Ashlee Mires, of Madison, is a freshman pre-communication disorders major.

Students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 grade point average, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 grade point average to be eligible for the dean's list.



Gail Peak, of Madison, was among those honored on the Lewis University deans' list for fall semester of the 2012-2013 school year. Peak was studying athletic training at the university.

To be eligible for this honor, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
