Two local students will host a canned food drive at Madison’s homecoming Saturday as part of a community service project.

Madison Consolidated High School student Andy Holcroft and Shawe Memorial High School student Logan Lainhart, both alums of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership program, will join forces to collect canned food items to be donated to the Jefferson County House of Hope.

As HOBY alum, students are required to benefit their community through collaboration on one project each year.

Volunteers will be stationed at the north and south entrances to the MCHS gymnasium ahead of the first 6 p.m. game.

For each canned item donated, participants will receive a ticket for a drawing to win gift certificates and baskets from local businesses ranging in price from $20 to $65. There is no limit for items donated and tickets received. Additionally, tickets can be purchased for $1 per ticket.

Tickets will be drawn during halftime of 7:30 p.m. the varsity game.
