Sixth and seventh grade students from Madison Junior High School recently entered the 2015 Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest. The contest offers young Hoosier artists the opportunity to develop and showcase their talent.
Electric Consumer - the statewide publication for Indiana's electric cooperatives -sponsors the program, which is open to all kindergarten through 12th grade Indiana students. Students submit original artwork reflective of the calendar month for which their grade level is assigned. For example, high school seniors would submit artwork for the month of December. There were a total of 5,000 entries statewide and four MJHS students were selected for awards.
Merit Awards went to sixth-graders Isaac Boone and Casie Bear and seventh-grader Tay Wells. Sixth-grader Luke Chabukashvili received honorable mention, which included a $50 cash prize and having his artwork included in the annual calendar.
