    The Madison Regatta Festival officially kicked off with the running of the Dennis Holt Memorial RC Boat Regatta at Krueger Lake over the weekend. Over a dozen different classes of boats participated in the event with fans treated to deck to deck action and close racing in the corners.

    Madison’s American Legion Post 9 baseball team closed out the John E. Hayes Best of the Midwest Invitational in Terre Haute with a loss on Saturday.

    The Niners fell 7-3 to Newburgh Kapperman Post 44 in the final game of pool play.

    The Madison Soccer Camp will be held July 10-27 at the soccer fields at Madison Junior High School. Kids in grades first through third grade will go from 8-9:30 a.m. on July 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26.

After helping the Cincinnati Reds build a six-run lead, Gennett threw out Brian Goodwin at the plate on a fifth-inning relay, disrupting chance at a comeback in a 6-2 victory over the Washington Nationals.
