Ondrusek placed on DL, Zack Cozart hit by pitch
Wednesday, July 23, 2014 11:00 AM
MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Reds placed right-handed reliever Logan Ondrusek on the 15-day disabled list with a strained shoulder before Tuesday night's game against the Brewers.
The move is retroactive to July 13.
Ondrusek is 3-1 with an ERA of 4.31 in 29 games this season.
Right-hander Curtis Partch was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.
Partch has pitched in four games with the Reds in 2014. He is 1-0 and has not allowed a run.
Later Tuesday night, Zack Cozart left the Reds game with the Brewers after being hit in the right hand by a pitch while attempting to bunt.
X-rays on the first two fingers of his hand were negative, and the team said he was day-to-day.
Cozart was hit by a pitch from Milwaukee starter Jimmy Nelson in the seventh inning, twisting out of the batter's box in pain while grabbing his hand. The ball appeared to hit Cozart's bat first, but Milwaukee's appeal of the hit by pitch call was unsuccessful and he was awarded first base.
Cozart stayed in the game as a runner and was doubled off second base on an easy flyout to end the inning. He then left the game.
In 95 games, Cozart is batting .227 with two home runs and 22 RBI.
