CHICAGO (AP) - The Cincinnati Reds have signed first-round draft pick Phillip Ervin.
The Reds announced the signing of the 20-year-old outfielder, taken 27th overall Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed Monday.
Ervin hit .337 with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs and 21 stolen bases last season at Samford University. An All-Southern Conference player was the first Samford player to be taken in the first round and was the highest draft pick in any sport in the school's history.
