WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. - Trey Boles and Dakota Corbin turned in strong individual performances to lead Carroll Count to a 47-33 victory over host Williamstown in the opening round of the Kentucky All "A" Classic Eighth Region Tournament on Wednesday.

Boles was 10-for-10 at the free throw line en route to a 19-point night and Corbin scored seven of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers pulled away from the Demons to win by four. Corbin capped a double-double night with 13 rebounds.
"Williamstown hung tough with us in the second half and pulled to within two points in the third quarter," said Carroll County coach Carroll Yager. "But we never lost our composure and made key baskets down the stretch to secure the win."
Corbin scored the first two buckets for Carroll County as the Panthers built an early 7-0 lead. However, was all the Panthers could muster in the first frame although it more than doubled the Demons. Williamstown's David Jump, who led the Demons with 19 points on the night, sank a 3-pointer for the host team's only points in a 7-3 opening quarter.
Williamstown scored first in the second quarter to pull to within 7-5 but Carroll then went on an 11-6 run that was capped by a pair of Boles free throws for an 18-11 lead with 2:10 remaining.
The Demons then close out the half with four straight points - Jump scored a basket and Quade Simpson hit a pair of free throws - to close to within three at 18-15 at halftime.
The two teams traded buckets through the third quarter as Williamstown stayed within a bucket much of the way. Jump hit a pair of free throws to keep Williamstown within two early in the third before Boles made a 3-pointer and Jump scored on a putback.
Carroll County was finally able to put some distance on the Demons in the final minutes of the third quarter when Corbin and Boles hit key free throws to finally give the Panthers a 31-25 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
Key baskets by Damron and Corbin and a back-breaking 3-pointer by Jacob Wise staked Carroll County a double-digit 40-29 lead with 2:31 remaining in the contest as Carroll finally seized control of the contest.
Williamstown (2-15) was forced to foul in the waning moments and Carroll made the majority of its free throws en route to the 14-point win.
"I thought Dakota (Corbin) played a heck of a game both offensively and defensively," Yager said. "And I thought Trey (Boles) played well in a lot of areas."
Yager was particularly happy with the job Wise did while defending Jump - one of the top jump-shooters in the region. "They were running two and three screens every time and Jacob was able to handle whatever they threw at him," Yager said.
The Panthers (11-7) now move on to play Walton-Verona in the tournament semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Bearcats defeated Trimble County 57-48 in Wednesday's second game. Owen County (13-3) will play Eminence (10-10) in the first semifinal at 6 p.m. on Friday with the winners meeting at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
