Carroll-Trimble split frigid showdown

Cold temperatures, constant wind and occasional bursts of snow flurries made conditions less than desirable for tennis Tuesday at Robert Westrick Memorial Park in Carrollton.

Nevertheless, Carroll County and Trimble County toughed it out under the adverse conditions with the Raiders winning 3-2 in boys action and the Lady Panthers winning by the same margin in girls' action.
Trimble County took No. 1 and No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, while Carroll County won No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Doubles - No. 1 Reese True, Dylan Stethan (TC) d. Dakota Corbin, Noah Abercrombie (CC) 6-4, 6-0; No. 2 Thomas Hill, Nick Aulback (CC) d. Austin Dixon, Alex Dixon (TC) 7-5, 6-2.
Carroll County dominated the three singles matches while Trimble County dominated in doubles play.
Singles - No. 1 Lyndie Burns (CC) d. Alex Lawhorn (TC) 6-6, 6-4, 7-6 (TB); No. 2 Sara McArter (CC) d. Elizabeth Moore (TC) 6-3, 6-0; No. 3 Jessi Dermon (CC) d. Ciarra Harmon (TC) 6-1, 6-0. Doubles - No. 1 Kalee Cook, Micah Hess (TC) d. Taylor Courtney, Megan Harris (CC) 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 Diane Payton, Whitney Wingham (TC) d. Kendall Couley, Emillee Walker (CC) 6-1, 6-2.
Carroll County's boys and girls visit Gallatin County today, Trimble County's girls visit Frankfort today and Trimble County's boys are off until Wednesday, when they host North Bullitt.
