Carroll County's boys soccer team shut out host Owen County 2-0 on Thursday night to win the Panthers' first 31st District championship in school history.
The Panthers, now 15-7 on the season, advanced to the title game with a 10-0 rout of Henry County on Tuesday. The Panthers will now host a first-round game in the Eighth Region tournament Monday night at Panther Field in Carrollton.
The Panthers rolled through the two district tourney games outscoring opponents a combined 12-0 with freshman goalie Cody Damron working the shutouts. Taylor Byrd and Brandon Stewart both had hat tricks in the win over Henry.
Carroll will now play either Walton-Verona (1-7-2), Oldham County (8-9-1) or Anderson County (10-10-0) in Monday's regional. The Panthers have played only one of the three in the regular season - a 3-0 loss to Walton-Verona in their season opener on Aug. 14 - but have outscored opponents 71-39 for the season.
The regional draw is today.
