Carroll County's girls closed out the regular season with a 47-13 loss to Walton-Verona at home Friday in the second half of a boys-girls doubleheader.

The Panthers (7-19, 2-9 North Central Kentucky) trailed 10-5 after the first quarter but were outscored 20-1 in the second. Carroll County shot 13 percent (4-for-31) as a team.

Freshman Miranda Groseclose led the Panthers with six points and seven rebounds. Makena Kindoll scored four points and had five rebounds and Kayla Williamson added three points and three steals.

Carroll County now heads into the 31st District Tournament which will be held in Carrollton next week. The Panthers, seeded third, will take on No. 2 seed Owen County on Thursday.
