Carroll harriers out-run Trimble, Gallatin

Carroll County's cross country teams both scored tri-meet wins over Trimble County and Gallatin County Tuesday in Carrollton.
Michael Burns was second overall with a school-record 17:22 to lead the Carroll County boys. Wesley Cruz was fifth in 18:22, Austin Crank was seventh in 19:36, Cody Cruz placed eighth in 20:01 and Michael Hall was ninth in 20:47.
Other finishes for the Carroll boys were: Taylor Schirmer, 10th; Wyatt Boswell, 11th; Evan McMahan, 12th; and Alex Jefferey, 13th.
The Lady Panthers were led by Haley Dermon, who was missed the school record by eight seconds while placing second overall in 22:07. Sarah Martinez was third overall in 22:56, Sierra Martinez was fourth in 23:00, Jenna Richmond was sixth in 24:50 and Mallory Wilkerson was seventh in 26:15.
No other results were available.
Carroll County's next meet will be at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington on Saturday.
Lady Rebels run 2nd, Madison boys 3rd at Big Blue Invitational
Madison and Southwestern cross country ran in the Big Blue Invitational on Tuesday at Jennings County.
In the girls portion of the meet, Southwestern placed second overall behind invitational winner Batesville while Madison was fourth.
In the boys meet, Madison finished third and Southwestern placed 11th as Jennings County claimed the invitational crown.
The Rebels' Cass Lawson finished eighth in a time of 22:23.
Other Southwestern runners were: Jayla Watson, 18th, 23:39; Michaela Mahoney, 21st, 23:57; Rebekah Anderson, 22nd, 23:58; and Ashton Elliot, 34th, 25:07. Austin Courtney ran a 25:11 and Gianna Bennett ran a 27:46.
Madison finishers were: Paige Hess, 11th; Ashlee Allen, 14th; Brittany Jaynes, 24th; Liz Ray, 28th; Lilly Owens, 36th; and Grace Spencer, 47th. Times for Madison were not available.
Quenton White led the Madison boys in eighth place. Other Madison finishers were: David Gibson, 13th; Justin Robertson, 14th; Josh Howell, 29th; Kirkland Royalty, 44th; and Kevin Stewart, 45th. Times for Madison were not available.
Josiah Lawson was the lone ribbon winner for Southwestern's boys, finishing 25th in 19:11. Other Rebels were: Ryan Furnish, 28th, 19:14; Jayde Ary, 49th, 20:24; Michael Hedges, 63rd, 21:35; Camden Chatham, 69th; 22:35; Austin Wilson, 22:46; and Jacob Shaffer, 23:12.
Madison runs in the South Dearborn Invitational on Saturday. Southwestern travels to Lawrenceburg for a dual meet next Tuesday.
Shawe runs at CAI Invitational
Although Shawe cross country could not field enough runners to qualify for team scores, the Hilltoppers ran a solid race at the Christian Academy Invitational on Tuesday.
In the girls 5K, Caroline Wehner finished seventh in a time of 22:30 and Saraelia Garcia was 18th in 24:38 as both runners medaled. Hannah Storm earned a 22nd place ribbon in 24:44.
In the boys portion of the meet, Skip Moss led Shawe with a 46th place in 20:50 while Andrew Ott ran a 22:17.
Shawe travels to Oldenburg next Tuesday for a dual meet.
