Shawe Memorial was held to just four points in the first half en route to a 67-23 boys basketball loss to unbeaten Providence Saturday in Clarksville.

Providence, which is ranked fourth in Class 2A, led 17-0 after the first quarter and 35-4 at halftime. It was a similar performance to the one that the Pioneers (10-0) put on Madison last month in a 48-24 win.

The 44-point margin of loss was Shawe's worst since a 112-52 defeat at the hands of South Ripley on Dec. 9, 1994. The 23 points Shawe scored were the fewest in at least the past 20 years and was the second time in the past three games that the Hilltoppers have been held under 30 points.

Taylor Rhoten led Shawe with six points while Luke Higgins had five. Ryan Pickerrell led Providence with 12 points and 12 rebounds while teammate Dalton Dooley led all scorers with 17 points.

Shawe, now 3-8 on the season, returns to action Friday when the Hilltoppers visit Trinity Lutheran.
