- Carroll County's Trey Boles was named North Central Kentucky Conference player of the week for Feb. 11-17.

Boles and teammate Dallas Gibson were also named to the All-NCKC team for the 2012-13 season.

- Shawe's David Grote and Switzerland County's Austin Clark have been named Ohio River Valley Conference co-players of the week.

Grote, a senior, scored a career-high 30 points and had eight rebounds and eight steals in a win over Rock Creek.

Clark, a junior, won the award for the third time with 59 points and 17 rebounds in a pair of games including a career-high 33 against Jac-Cen-Del.

Milan's Logan Alloway also shared the award with Grote and Clark.

- Tickets for Southwestern's boys basketball sectional tournament at South Ripley are now on sale in the athletic office.

The price is $10 for the entire tournament. Single session tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the door.

Southwestern plays North Decatur in the first game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

- Tickets for Madison's boys basketball sectional at Greensburg are now on sale in the Madison athletic office.

Madison plays the Rushville-Lawrenceburg winner on Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m.

- Madison's junior varsity boys basketball team defeated South Ripley 45-32 on the road Tuesday.

Kyle Tucker led the Cubs with 21 points.

Madison closes out the season at home on Friday against Switzerland County.

- Madison Junior High's wrestling team lost to Jennings County 69-50 on Tuesday.

Winners for the Bears were: Daunte O'Banion, Quinton Farris, Trenton Anderson, Cody Williams, Gabe Bennett, Gage Sproles, Ethan Schafer, Brendan Shook, Corbin Hughes, Marcus Schoonover and Daegon Branham.

- Shawe Memorial Junior/Senior High School is currently looking for coaches in junior high golf and junior high tennis.

Both seasons start in mid-March and anyone interested in either position should call Shawe Memorial Athletic Director Stephen Sims at (812) 273-2150, Ext. 229.

- The Southwestern Middle School softball coaches will hold a parent meeting on Friday in the Southwestern High School cafeteria at 5 p.m.

The meeting is for parents of any sixth, seventh or eighth grader interested in playing middle school softball. If you were unable to attend the meeting in January, please attend this meeting.

- The Madison Cub baseball team will host a camp for players in grades three through eight on Sunday and on March 3.

The cost of the camp is $40 and instruction will take place from 1-3 p.m. each day. Players will learn fundamentals in baserunning, pitching, hitting, and fielding.

It is preferred that campers pre-register by contacting coach Shannon Barger at sbarger@madison.k12.in.us. Players can also register on the first day of the camp at the high school gym.

- The Madison Blades Fencing Club is offering its All-U-Can-Eat Barbeque Chicken & Beverages fundraising event to benefit the Lide White Boys & Girls Club at the Thomas Family Winery on Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

The cost is $20 and tickets are available at the Winery, the Club and from members of the Fencing Club. Please purchase your ticket to assist with the preparation of how much food to prepare.

- The Madison Parks Department has scheduled a softball and baseball coaches meeting at the Brown Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

The softball coaches meeting is at 6 p.m. and the baseball coaches meeting is at 7 p.m. Anyone with an interest in coaching in the Madison Parks Department's baseball and softball programs is invited to attend.
