— Madison Football Program will be hold a Player/Parent Meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24 in the Madison Consolidated High School cafeteria.

The meeting is for any eighth through 11th graders who are planning to play football for the Cubs this fall. Items to be discussed include summer schedule and season expectations.



— The Madison Cub Booster Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 24 in the Madison Consolidated High School conference room. All meetings are open to the public.



— Shawe’s jayvee tennis players dropped a pair of losses at New Washington on Wednesday.

Cayden Hambrick lost 8-0 in singles while Destiny Stivers and Caroline Grote lost 6-4 in doubles.



— The Voices for Children Superhero 5K/1K will be Saturday on the riverfront in Madison.

— The American Legion will hold a benefit golf scramble at Butler Falls Golf Course in Hanover on Sunday.

— Madison Parks Department has applications available for the 2017 youth baseball and softball seasons.

Applications for teenagers ages 13-15 are due May 1.

The fee is $50 and all applications received by the deadlines are guaranteed a roster spot. Those who sign up after the deadline may be placed on a waiting list and are subject to a $20 late fee. There is a 12-player roster limit for teams.

Applications are available at the Madison Parks Department, located at Brown Gym on South Broadway and online via the city of Madison’s website at www.madison-in.gov under Parks and Facilities: Sports Program. Forms also will be available at area schools and at Champs Sports & Corporate Apparel and Liberty Screen Printing beginning next week.

Participation age is determined by player’s age on May 1. A copy of each child’s birth certificate should accompany their application.

— Lide White Boys & Girls Club will offer T-Ball programming again this summer, the 34th year of the program to introduce baseball and softball skills to youth in our community.

Leagues will be formed in four, five and six year olds. Applications are now available at the Club, at all area schools and are being delivered to area pre-schools and day-care centers. Applications are also available on-line at the Club’s website at www.lidewhite.com.



— The annual Molly Dattilo Run/Walk will be held Saturday, May 13 in downtown Madison.

The event features a 5K run and walk as well as half-mile and mile-long kids races. It starts at 7:45 a.m. on Vaughn Drive in front of Crystal Beach pool.

Cost is $20 for the run, walk or bike rally, $12 for the kids races with a shirt or $6 for the kids races without a shirt.

Registration is available online at RaceMenu.com/Molly5K, the day before the race at Ivy Tech or on race day.
