- Madison's boys junior varsity basketball team - all members of a strong Madison sophomore class that already has two players starting varsity - remained perfect on the season with a 54-32 win over Jeffersonville Saturday night at Connor K. Salm Gymnasium.
The Cubs, now 5-0, outscored the Red Devils 15-4 in the first quarter and took a 31-10 lead into halftime. Madison then outscored Jeff 23-22 in a much more competitive second half.
Kyle Tucker, a 5-foot-10 forward, led all scorers with 15 points for Madison. Alex Weaver, a 6-foot-2 center, added nine for the Cubs and Mitchell Seng and Kevin Stewart scored eight points each.
Jeff was led by Chandler Dale's nine points while Tyrise Major scoed six and C.J. Lambus had five.
Madison visits Bedford North Lawrence Friday.
- Switzerland County's jayvee boys basketball team defeated Rising Sun 45-33 Friday on the road.
Nathan Hunter had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Pacers, Riley Phagan had 13 points and Ben Curran had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Switzerland County travels to South Dearborn on Friday.
- Switzerland County High School's girls basketball team will be holding an Angel Tree Game Toy Drive on Tuesday.
The Lady Pacers host South Ripley that day and fans are asked to bring a new, never opened toy and will be entered to win free Nike Pacer gear and two buffet passes to Belterra Casino and Resort. The drawing will be held at the end of the third quarter.
