- Madison Junior High will hold softball tryouts today and Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

The tryouts are open to all seventh and eighth grade girls at Madison Junior High.



- Madison Junior High's wrestling team closed out the season by winning its own eight team Bear Rumble Saturday at the high school.

Winning championships for Madison were: Camden Spears (70 pounds); Ethan Schafer (140); Daegon Branham (145); Corbin Hughes (165); Eli Kent (200); and Marcus Schoonover (220).

Placing second from Madison were: Dalton Sizemore (95); Trenton Anderson (105); Cody Williams (120); Gage Sproles (130); Brendan Shook (155); and Raymond Clutter (Hwt.).

Finishing third were: Jerry Tingle (70); Daunte O'Banion (75); Gabe Bennett (125); and Jacob Nichols (135).

Madison scored 385.5 points to best runner-up Jennings County which had 367. Other team scores were: Perry Meridian, 313; Columbus Northside, 275; Southwestern, 154.5; Switzerland Co., 83; and Bedford North Lawrence, 83.



- Shawe's seventh grade girls basketball team defeated South Dearborn 36-14 on Thursday.

Kate Grote and Megan Hesse scored 10 points each for the Hilltoppers. Erin Cooper added eight.



- Tickets for Madison's boys basketball sectional at Greensburg are on sale in the Madison athletic office.

The price is $10 for the entire tournament. Single session tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the door.

Madison plays the Rushville-Lawrenceburg winner on Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m.



- Shawe Memorial Junior/Senior High School is looking for coaches in junior high golf and junior high tennis.

Both seasons start in mid-March and anyone interested should call Shawe Memorial Athletic Director Stephen Sims at (812) 273-2150, Ext. 229.



- The Madison Cub baseball team will host a camp for players in grades three through eight on Sunday.

The cost of the camp is $40 and will last from 1-3 p.m. each day. Players will learn the proper fundamentals in baserunning, pitching, hitting, and fielding.

It is preferred that campers pre-register by contacting coach Shannon Barger at sbarger@madison.k12.in.us. Players can also register on the first day of the camp at the high school gym.



- The Madison Parks Department has scheduled a softball and baseball coaches meeting at the Brown Gym on Wednesday.

The softball coaches meeting will take place at 6 p.m. and the baseball coaches meeting will start at 7 p.m. Anyone with an interest in coaching in the Madison Parks Department's baseball and softball programs are invited to attend.

- The Lide White Memorial Boys & Girls Club will offer a Fast-Pitch Softball Pitching Clinic on Fridays, starting on Friday from 4-5 p.m. in the Beano Goodman gymnasium.

The clinic is designed for girls ages 7-14 to learn the techniques and mechanics of pitching. The cost is $5 per participant per session or $30 for the six-week clinic, the participant would also receive a clinic T-shirt.
