- The Chelsea Bassmasters sent their top eight anglers to the Rocky Point District 10 tournament last weekend and the club came home winners of the event.

Competing against five other bass fishing clubs in Southern Indiana, the Chelsea group finished in first with a two-day total of more than 86 pounds of fish.

Anglers competing included: Matt Bell, James Burton, Robert Cooper, Larry Hostettler, John Jones, Josh McClure, Randy Spry Sr. and Wes Thomas.

In other club news, the bassmasters will be holding a fundraiser for the Lide White Boys and Girls Club Fishing Tournament that allows up to 32 boys and girls to participate in that event on the first weekend in August. For more info, call John Jones at (812) 599-0394.



- Hanover College's men's basketball program will be holding their 47th annual boys basketball camp.

Fundamental Skills camp will hold two separate sessions June 9-12 and July 7-10. A Post/Perimeter Skills camp is June 26-28.

- Three Hanover College softball players received Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors this week.

Sophomore pitcher and Jennings County graduate Leah Kemmerer was named first team All-HCAC. Sophomore third baseman Abby Murphy was named All-HCAC honorable mention while sophomore utility player Breann Truelove was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.



- The Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge is offering additional opportunities for fishing at Old Timbers Lake as well as hiking, bird watching and mushroom hunting this Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This weekend is also the last two days of turkey hunting at Big Oaks for 2013. Turkey hunters may come to the Big Oaks Refuge office at 4:30 p.m. on Friday for a lottery drawing. For those not able to attend the lottery drawing on Friday, walk-ins may come to the refuge office at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.
